The Teacher

Hi, I’m Annaise! Five years ago I discovered Pilates and it has been a constant ever since. What started as a reformer obsession grew into a mat practice that shifted something in me.. And I swear I’m not just saying that.

I came to mat Pilates reluctantly, forced into it through a teacher training program. But somewhere in those hours (those many many hours) of slowing down, I found something the reformer never gave me —stillness that stayed with me long after the session ended. I learned how to slow down on and off the mat, and how to lean into the quiet discomfort of moving your body and stretching your mind in new ways.

I began to crave it. It became an integral part of my peace. And that's when it became clear to me.. Somewhere along the way, the true intention of Pilates had gotten lost in the trends.

One27 exists to bring it back.

The Practice

As an Afro-Latina woman (and someone who not too long ago didn’t have $45 for groceries, let alone a damn Pilates class), I know what it feels like to walk into a wellness space and wonder if it was really made for you. The price points that put it out of reach. The rooms that all look the same. The sense that you have to already belong before you're welcome.

One27 is my answer to that.

This studio exists to make intentional movement affordable, approachable, and genuinely inclusive for beginners, for skeptics, or for anyone who has ever felt like the wellness world wasn't built with them in mind. No more waitlists or intimidating environments. Just you, your body, and a practice that meets you exactly where you are.

Movement is for every body! And when we approach it with intention and presence it becomes something more than exercise.

It becomes a practice. It becomes a ritual.
